The Place to be in XR!

Die XR-Industrie hat einen neuen Treffpunkt zur weltgrößten Spielemesse in Köln, der Gamescom! Hier bekommt ihr alle Infos!

Der Status Quo. Wer in den letzten Jahren Ende August nach Köln kam, um sich auf der Evoke, der Devcom oder der Gamescom mit der XR-Branche auszutauschen und Business zu machen, der musste verwundert feststellen: Diese Games-Woche ist ein blinder Fleck auf der XR-Weltkarte. Vorbei die Zeiten, in denen sich lange Schlangen durch die Messehallen bildeten als erstmals Oculus-Brillen verfügbar waren.

Zum Metaverse-Hype ließ Meta sich mit einem Stand auf der Gamescom blicken, Pico gönnte sich 2022 einen Stand. Und im Business-Bereich finden sich an den Länderpavillons die XR-Indies.

Aber einen Treffpunkt für die Aktiven der XR-Branche gab es - mal abgesehen von gelegentlichen Treffen unter Brücken - selten. 

Darum freue ich mich euch zu gleich drei Events einladen zu können! 

1. Global XR Hack Cologne - 18. bis 20. August
2. XR Pro Party - Gamescom warm-up - 20. August
3. XR-Get together @Gamescom mit dem DLR Projektträger - 21. August (in Planung)

Global XR Hackathon in Köln

Was: Der Global XR Hackathon ist eine 4-teilige Hackathon-Reihe mit Auftakt in Köln, bei dem 120+ Hacker:innen um 100.000 Dollar globales Preisgeld Sponsored by Meta hacken. Gewinnerteams haben die Möglichkeit auf der Connect vorgestellt zu werden.
Wann und Wo: 18. bis 20. August 2024, Startplatz (mit Klimaanlage, und 5 Minuten von der Messe entfernt)
Wer: Teilnehmen können Unternehmen, Einzelpersonen und Teams, die eigene Projekte mitbringen wollen oder sich den Challenges anschließen (kostenlose Teilnahme).
Wer: Organisiert wird der Kölner Hackathon von uns beiden Local Directors Christian Steiner und Thomas Riedel. Hinter der Reihe steht das Team von XR Bootcamp

Die Party: XR PRO Gamescom warm-up!

Nach dem Hackathon ist vor der Party! Direkt nach der Abschlussveranstaltung des Hackathons gehts rauf in die 3. Etage zur Party! Mit Blick auf den Mediapark lassen wir die XR-Ragdolls tanzen! Wir erwarten 250 internationale Gäste, die XR Hack-Gewinnerprojekte können getestet werden und bei free Food & Drinks kommt die Branche zusammen wie seit 2018 nicht mehr! :D 

Bitte setzt euch schon jetzt auf die Waitlist, damit wir Tickets für die Leute aus der XR-Branche freigeben können :-)

XR-Get together in Kooperation mit dem DLR Projektträger

Schon letztes Jahr gab es ein kleines und kurzfristig organisiertes Meetup am Mittwoch auf der Gamescom. Aktuell sprechen wir über eine Neuauflage. Infos dazu bekommt ihr natürlich rechtzeitig hier.

The Place to be in XR!

The XR industry has a new meeting place at the world's biggest games fair in Cologne, Gamescom! Get all the info here!

The status quo. Anyone who has come to Cologne at the end of August in recent years to exchange ideas and do business with the XR industry at Evoke, Devcom or Gamescom has been amazed to discover: This games week is a blind spot on the XR world map. Gone are the days when long queues formed through the exhibition halls when Oculus glasses first became available.

Metaverse-Hype. Meta had a stand at Gamescom during the Metaverse hype, and Pico treated itself to a stand in 2022. And in the business area, the XR indies can be found at the country pavilions.

But apart from the occasional meeting under bridges, there was rarely a meeting place for those active in the XR industry. 

That's why I'm delighted to be able to invite you to three events! 

1. Global XR Hack Cologne - August 18 to 20
2. XR Pro Party - Gamescom warm-up - August 20
3. XR-Get together @Gamescom with the DLR Project Management Agency - August 21 (in planning)

Global XR Hackathon in Cologne

What: The Global XR Hackathon is a 4-part hackathon series kicking off in Cologne with 120+ hackers hacking for 100,000 dollars in global prize money sponsored by Meta. Winning teams will have the opportunity to be featured at Connect.
When and where: August 18-20, 2024, STARTPLATZ (with air conditioning, 5 minutes from Cologne Trade Fair)
Who: Companies, individuals and teams who want to bring their own projects or join the challenges can take part (free admittance.
Who: The Cologne Hackathon is organized by our two Local Directors Christian Steiner and Thomas Riedel. The XR Bootcamp team is behind the series

The Party: XR PRO Gamescom warm-up!

After the hackathon is before the party! Directly after the final event of the hackathon, it's up to the 3rd floor for the party! With a view of the Mediapark, we'll get the XR ragdolls dancing! We expect 250 international guests, the XR Hack winning projects can be tested and with free food & drinks the industry comes together like not since 2018! :D

Last year there was already a small get-together organized at short notice on Wednesday at Gamescom. We are currently talking about a new edition. Of course, you'll get all the information here in good time.
