    Das Interview, dass ich heute für euch habe, kann komplett auf Buzzwörter verzichten. Vermutlich, weil es weniger darum ging ein Buzzwort zu bedienen. Sondern eine Vision umzusetzen. Die Vision von Dr. Rabi Datta. Der Oberarzt an der Uniklinik in Köln erlebte während seiner Ausbildung, wie schmerzhaft es sein kann durch Fehler am Patienten zu lernen. Dr. Datta fragte sich, ob Virtual Reality nicht dazu beitragen könnte Fehler öfter in Virtual Reality zu machen, statt am Patienten. Also begann er damit ein Team zu bilden. Vier Jahre später, im Oktober diesen Jahres launcht eine Schockraum-Simulation, die in der Uni-Klinik in Köln in einem eigenen Raum mit dutzenden VR Brillen eingerichtet wurde. Das Projekt entstand Universitäts- und Disziplin-Übergreifend, spricht Ärtzinnen in der Ausbildung, erfahrene Kolleginnen aber auch Pflegende an. 9 Doktorarbeiten wurden egleitend dazu geschrieben. Und auch wenn schon sehr viel Arbeit hineingeflossen ist, beginnt die eigentliche Arbeit am Projekt erst jetzt so richtig, erklärt mit Dr. Datta. Ein wirklich erstaunliches, technisch toll gemachtes Projekt, das ein wenig an einen Star Trek Bidgecommander für den Schockraum erinnert.

    In this episode I am incredibly happy that I was able to talk to Monica Ares. Monica is a global leader for Immersive Learning, XR and AI. Her immersive journey started as Director of the Dr. William Russell Blake Planetarium in Plymouth, teaching over 5.000 students annually. To bring the benefits of Immersive Learning to more people, she went to Amazon and finally to Meta, where she was responsible to develop VR content with 3rd party developers to create high-quality VR educational experiences for the Oculus App Store among other things. She was knee-deep in the restructuring of Facebook to Meta and the Metaverse hype-times. Monica takes us along her journey until she leaves Meta, explaining what the state of XR means for Immersive Learning, and what it ment for the cause of Immersive Learning when Meta announced the year of efficiency.

    „Mark Zuckerberg is a human who cares deeply about education, he always has. […] But often times product roadmaps need to follow what they’re good at. […]. Education is such a good use-case, it’s a hugely scalable market. But it’s only scalable once you can support it.“ says Monica.

    Monica just recently moved to London and took over the role of Executive Director of IDEA Lab at the Imperial College.

    Für das heutige Interview habe ich Torsten Fell eingeladen. Er gehört vielleicht zu den VR Experten in Deutschland, aber auf jeden Fall zu den bekanntesten Köpfen in der Szene. Wie er mir erzählt ist er über das Malen zu VR gekommen und seit dem dabei geblieben. Heute coacht und trainiert er Teams und Ausbilder zum Thema VR, hält Workshops und hilft den Unternehmen bei ihrer Transformation. Das Thema heute ist also Immersive Learning, seinen Möglichkeiten im Unternehmenskontext in Aus- und Weiterbildung, dem aktuellen Stand in Deutschland und wie Unternehmen bereits heute VR im Corporate Learning einsetzen können.
