    Jedes Jahr setzt Meta mit seiner Developer-Konferenz Akzente. Akzente, mit denen wir uns in der Branche dann wieder für ein Jahr auseinandersetzen. Sehr wirkungsvoll war das Jahr 2021 mit dem Start des Metaverse-Hypes. Das letzte Jahr brachte uns viel KI und die Meta Ray-Ban, die damit tatsächlich gerade mal ein Jahr alt wird. Ihr Erfolg, soweit wir davon wissen, beeinflusst jetzt vielleicht die Strategie Metas. Denn schon bei dieser Connect soll ein AR-Prototyp gezeigt werden, über die Mark Zuckerberg und Andrew Bosworth voll des Lobes sind. Es ist kein Produkt, sondern ein Prototyp. Aber irgendetwas muss daran ja besonders sein, dass sich die Führungsriege Metas zu solcher Rhetorik hinreißen lässt. Thomas und Thomas sind gespannt und diskutieren, was genau das sein könnte und inwiefern dafür schon eine Entwicklerplattform, ein Spark-Nachfolger kommen wird.

    Außerdem diskutieren sie den Preis der antizipierten Meta Quest 3s, die als gesichert gilt und auf der Connect gezeigt werden soll. Wird es den Nachfolger ohne Controller, dafür aber mit Xbox-Branding geben? Wie hoch darf der Preis trotz Inflation werden, um ein Erfolg ähnlich der Quest 2 zu werden? Gegenüber der eben angekündigten Sony PlayStation 5 Pro wäre dann noch ein Xbox Ultimate GamePass der absolute PS 5Pro-Killer.

    Zum Ende freuen sich Thomas auf HTCs neustes Gerät aus dem Hause Vive.

    In the long interview I am happy to talk to Danile Maas from the Danish VR Startup VRPilot. Daniel and his team have been working on a cockpit simulator since he dropped out from a big defense company in late 2019. The first contract was with the Royal Danish Airforce and the team had to show in a couple of months, that they can actually deliver what they sold. From there on the proof of concept convinced many more companies like DHL or Alaska Airlines to use VR Pilot. When COVID hit the globe their approach to use a standalone headset really payed out. Learn in this in-depth interview how VR is a perfect medium to train pilots and prepare them in a safe, fast and cheap way for even the worst situation while being in air. Because you know what they say: Take off is optional, but landing is mandatory!
